Gran Tursimo Prologue looks ordinary
It appears as though Playstation is starting ramp up their advertising spend and are heavily promoting the PS3 Gran Tursmo Prologue pack. The thing is, the graphics look extremely ordinary, with a lazy framerate, so-so visuals and so much blurry frame interlacing that it looks like a souped up PS2 game, rather than the greatest graphical racing game of all time. It’s just astounding that Sony is spending a huge amount on media with a lacklustre TVC that does little to convince us that the PS3 is the most technically advanced media centre of it’s generation.
It could be said that I’m not a big fan of the PS3 because of my involvement in revealing the Harvey Norman PS3 Debacle or because I own a X360, Wii, DS and am an Apple fanboy, but truth be told, if I could afford a PS3 I’d own one. There just isn’t a single game/killer app that warrants it’s price and if Sony is attempting to position the Gran Turismo Package for their next marketing offensive, then using sloppy graphic production techniques will not do them any good.
The australian version of the commercial is a cut down version the UK version (embedded below). Though it’s hard to tell due to the flash compression, the lack of quality is still quite evident.
