Amazing Sea Dragon and Photosynth Demo
“Using photos of oft-snapped subjects (like Notre Dame) scraped from around the Web, Photosynth (based on Seadragon technology) creates breathtaking multidimensional spaces with zoom and navigation features that outstrip all expectation. Its architect, Blaise Aguera y Arcas, shows it off in this standing-ovation demo. Curious about that speck in corner? Dive into a freefall and watch as the speck becomes a gargoyle. With an unpleasant grimace. And an ant-sized chip in its lower left molar. “Perhaps the most amazing demo I’ve seen this year,” wrote Ethan Zuckerman, after TED2007. Indeed, Photosynth might utterly transform the way we manipulate and experience digital images.” - attributed to TED
The best ad shown during the AFL Grand Final
I’m super glad that this advert made it into the premium adspace of the AFL Grand Final.
Napisan Rewind (now with added Lea Riley)
My wife is a new tv advertisement for Napisan in Australia. There’s something beautiful and surreal about seeing your wife on television and portraying a mum, especially when we’re expecting ourselves. Apart from the smug pack shot, which nearly brings me to tears, I love the disclaimer “light stains like pasta sauce”. lol.
Rove as Shrek
My good mate Geoffrey Barrington came up from Adelaide to Sydney to do caricatures for the Shrek 3 after party. Bazz shrekified the parties guests including Rove McManus. Rove was so impressed with his cartoon representation that he presented it to his audience on Rove Live. This video is a snippet from the shows opening:
U-Beaut Automated Videos
There are a swag of video sharing sites that allow you to upload your stills and audio files to create a video, but none of them close to matching the high level of broadcast design found in Animoto. The engine scans the contents of the images and then makes appropriate stylistic treatments to match the soundtrack. Seeing is believing:
The website is standard web2.0 fare, but the resulting videos resemble high quality muic film clips more than the glorified powerpoint presentations available in other services. The application plugs directly into your existing photo sharing accounts (like flickr) or allows for manual upload. You’re then able to choose a few hero photo’s, upload your own song or choose from a selection on their website, press render, wait half an hour, and then it’s ready to share.
I can’t wait to explore further how this can be used…
